There are two terms in each academic year. The first term spans over September-December, and the second term is across January-June. The academic calendar will provide all necessary information.

Students are examined at the end of both terms. First term exams are held in December/January and second term exams in June. There is mid term exam fro both terms and the students are required to appear in 50% of the term syllabus.

Promotion criterion will be governed by the following rules. A student will be considered ‘failed’ in case he/she:

  • Secures less than 40% marks, however passing percentage for IGCSE  AS and A Level is minimum 50%.

  • Fails in 2 major or one major plus 2 minor subjects from class III to VIII and one major and one minor subjects from class IX onward (even if marks are more than 40%).

  • The students must pass class tests, assignments mid term tests and term exams to finally pass/earn promotion.

  •  For delayed submission of the assignments students will be charged 1 mark per day.

Exemption Cases for Term Exams

The students will neither be considered “fail” in the exempted test nor his/her promotion affected, if otherwise passing. However, the overall percentage in the aggregated result will be affected.

For non-Muslims Islamiat is not compulsory. The subject of ethics has been introduced for them at SSC/HSSC level.

Homework and Revision Tests

To ensure a balanced amount of homework in every subject, homework schedule is issued, which allows only a specific number of subjects each day to be given as home assignments. Revision and class tests are conducted alongside regular homework schedule are also followed to monitor the performance of the students. The student would need to chalk out a regular study program at home with parents in the supporting role.

Each student is required to possess a ‘student reference’. Students have to bring their reference to the school everyday. The student reference will be used for writing down homework or any note the teacher might wish to send. The parents are requested to check the reference regularly and sign once a week. Student reference is much more than a mere diary. It contains important reference information, which the student is advised to keep him/herself abreast with. Student reference serves as a guide book (Green book) and every student is expected to read the write up sections deliberately from the start to the end, and also keep it update as per its purposes.
